Raw Chocolate Macaroons

Yum! Yum! Yum! I love macaroons. The only thing better is chocolate macaroons. And the only thing better than that? When they are GOOD FOR YOU. I love these things. Great for a snack anytime or for dessert.

3 C raw Shredded coconut
3/4 C Maple syrup
1/2 tsp Salt
1/3 C Coconut oil at room temperature (liquid)
1 1/4 C raw Cacao powder

In a stand mixer or with a hand mixer, blend the ingredients until they are well-combined and stick together.

Form the dough into macaroons and place them on a dehydrator sheet. Place the sheet in the dehydrator.

Dehydrate the macaroons for 10 minutes at 145 degrees. Then lower the temperature to 108 degrees and dehydrate them for 1 hour.

Makes about 20 macaroons.

  1. For the first fifteen minutes, you can put it up to 145 to prevent the growth of certain types of bacteria. The food itself won't reach 145 degrees in that time so the enzymes won't be killed. After that time, you do need to turn it down below 118.
