Vegan ‘Puppy Chow’ Recipe


For Christmas we made this as one of the treats in our treat gift boxes. It was SO GOOD. Definitely one of my favorites. It’s a bit messy to eat but it’s absolutely delicious and easy to make too!

1/2 C Corn kernels
1/2 tsp Pink salt
1 1/4 C Semi-sweet chocolate chips
1/2 C Unsweetened smooth peanut butter
3 Tbs Earth Balance
1 tsp Vanilla

In an air popper or other popcorn maker, pop the popcorn. It should make about 15 cups of popcorn. Move the popcorn by hand (don’t just dump it or you will get some kernels) to a large bowl for mixing.

In a medium pan or double boiler, melt the chocolate, peanut butter, and Earth Balance. Stir together until combined. Take off the heat and let cook slightly, then add the vanilla. Pour over the popcorn in the large bowl and mix until well coated. You will probably break up some of the popcorn but that’s ok.

Spread the coated popcorn on a baking sheet and place it in the freezer to cool. Alternatively, you can divide up the popcorn in a muffin tin. We did this so that the popcorn was the right shape to put in muffin cups for our treat boxes. They were adorable!

Once the chocolate is hardened, cover and store in a cool place.
